About us

Indian Naval Veterans Society (INVeS), formerly known as Thiruvananthapuram Veteran Sailors Welfare Society (TVSWS), is a secular and non-political organization of retired sailors from Indian Navy.

With the core aim of looking after the welfare of its members, the society fosters friendship and camaraderie between them. INVeS provides moral and procedural support to Naval Veterans and their families as and when required. Moreover the organisation assists its members to find a suitable second career post retirement.

A dedicated 3 member hotline is available for any form of assistance. Under the umbrella of its Paraspara Sahaya Nidhi (PSN) programme, INVeS organizes contributions to provide financial support to ailing and deserving members. Such monetary assistance includes a death benefit of Rs. 10000/- to the family immediately after the member's demise.

INVeS also institutes various merit awards and scholarships to selected members and dependants for their academic, sports and cultural excellence. The society interacts with Government, Navy and other relevant defence agencies for issues pertaining to SPARSH, ECHS and CSD for the benefit of resolving concerns and issues of its members that requires collective intervention.

Various social and cultural activities are organized to build relations between the members and also to provide guidance and training to the youth who wish to join Indian Armed Forces.

Many events are organised in association with other similar organisations like Naval Armament Inspectorate Thiruvananthapuram ( PINA) and VSF Kochi. Programs are not limited to members alone but to the communities at a large extend.

INVeS is active in a wider prospect on humanitarian level, as it conducts outreach programmes like distributing food to poor homes, providing study materials to students, and promoting talented children with multiple extra ordinary capabilities. Physical and financial aid are also provided to deserving individuals from various sections of the society.

To accommodate the ever increasing scope and presence of INVeS, construction of an office cum community hall is in pipeline at our own land in Thiruvananthapuram. In addition, the society also plans to set-up a community living space, wherein members who wish to live together in a gated colony can do so.

INVeS has been growing actively and would continue to grow so in a good pace and in a self-sustaining manner so as to achieve its ambitious goals. In this regard, the society is looking for various income generative business plans like hospitality assistance, training on human resources, placement agency and construction field etc where it can generate goodwill and provide few job opportunities as well for its members.

The Society is governed by a 15 member Executive Committee including 5 office bearers who are elected by the General Body periodically. The Executive Committee and General Body meet at regular intervals to elaborate and take appropriate decisions on the way ahead.

To become a member of INVeS, a one-time registration fee of Rs.200/- and an annual membership subscription of Rs. 500/- is required. For lifetime membership the one-time fee is Rs. 5200/-. The society urges all Naval Veterans to join as a member, as INVeS is the only registered society for Naval Veterans that exists in the state of Kerala.

History

During the year 2014, a group of 13 Naval veteran stalwarts based at Trivandrum joined together with an idea to form an unofficial welfare group namely “Trivandrum Naval veterans’ Forum (TNVF)”. Initial assembly was at founder Secretary Sri. NS Anil Kumar’s home as the ‘den’ and subsequently at Museum, Poojappura ground and the houses of other members became the venue for our meetings at regular intervals. Subsequently, it was registered as a welfare society under Kerala Society Act in March 2018 and thus “Thiruvananthapuram Veteran Sailors’ Welfare Society (TVSWS)” formally came into existence. As part of the expansion program, the society was renamed as Indian Naval Veterans Society (INVeS).
